Travel Log #3B: Cambodia and Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is a pretty big town, not as big as Bangkok. As my mini-bus drove into town from Siem Reap, you could mega-building projects: huge apartment complexes, a huge “Paris-themed” waterfront complex of offices made to look like Paris. All were entirely empty. All were likely built by China. China didn’t just build ghost cities in China, it built some in Cambodia too. If China doesn’t collapse financially, I’ll be amazed. Actually it’s already mid-collapse “China Style,” ie., a controlled collapse.
Here’s some pictures of Phnom Penh:
The town is centered around the rivers running through it. There’s the Tonle Saap, which drains the Tonle Saap lake in the wet season, joins the Mekong that ultimately flows through Viet Nam and into the S. China Sea.
That’s it!
