Sounds like utopia. My prayer is that people will return to worshiping God and not mammon.

It's a good thing to be able to leave and enjoy your life outside the states. But if/when the revolution begins I would expect all ex-pats to return and support the cause. If your writings only serve to start a movement and then abandon the cause it would be traitorous.

If there is revolution, it's typically a portion or even all of the country’s military who have to lead the fight. They decide the outcome, not unarmed people. That’s historically true and I can see why.

I told you that I'd think about this!

That's true but with one well known exception. It's also true that militaries are manned by citizens. What I wouldn't want is repercussions on expats from any side that might win through confiscation of life long earnings. I'd like to retire somewhere more appealing as well.

I'm already planning to move money to Cambodia if/when the Bolsheviks steal power again. I even found a bank here. Confiscations are a concern for sure. I suspect that there first could be capital controls for international transfers once investors start moving capital out the country in earnest (after puppet Kamala is installed). I want to be way ahead of that. I can get 5% on CDs here., maybe more if I put some in Cambodian Riels. I would expect a fall in the dollar too. I have one account already open at one bank.

I don't know Dunter, I'm 67 yo. I don't know what I'll do or can do. I fear there's not much any of us can do. I know it sounds cowardly, but history has cycles that play out--both up and then down. Even Trump probably can't change the outcome of a Fourth Turning crisis, since he, almost certainly will be be denied a 2nd term. There is horrible evil afoot. I will think about what you say though, that I'll promise. I know it sounds defeatist, but that's my mindset at this time.

You are smarter than everyone else. Sounds like you are having the time of your life. Plus the psychological state of ‘detachment’ you get from your native country and your chosen host country has the advantage of getting closer to your own self and not get bogged down by the socio-political-cultural issues that inevitably exist in every country. They just don’t touch you. I have been an ex-pat for 30 years in different places. It’s the best. You belong to yourself. Well done! Enjoy YOUR life.

I'm such a ditz. My local medical clinic cost about $10 to visit with a doctor---including some analgesics, cough medicine. Oh, and I refilled all of my US presciptions including alprozalam at the local pharmacy. You just go in and ask for what you need. I got 90 days for my 3 medications. It was plenty cheap and dead easy. I had bought my pill bottles but it was only useful to show the counter clerk the information about the scripts. The cost was similar to US co-pay prices under my Aetna Medicare prescription coverage back in Texas
